For First-Timers

From their story to their heart
in about three minutes.

Song4U is a little different from how most online services work. Here's the whole flow, explained simply — so you know what to expect, what's free, and when (if ever) you pay.

1. Listen first 2. Tell their story 3. Wait 3 minutes 4. Hear the preview 5. Try different versions 6. Edit lyrics 7. Love it → pay 8. Keep refining

Before anything else — the four promises

If you remember nothing else, remember these:

🎵 Free preview 30-second listen, every order, no payment up front
🔄 Free retries Try 2-3 different styles before paying
❤️ Pay only when right You decide when the song deserves your money
Revise after buying 3-10 more refinements included with every purchase
1

Start by listening.

Before you place an order, scroll the song-4u.net homepage and play a few real samples. We have songs for weddings, memorials, anniversaries, birthdays, Father's Day — all sung in different genres and several languages. This is the most important step for first-timers.

Hearing a real song does what no description can: it shows you that personalized songs really do sound polished and emotional, not robotic. Listening to one Italian sample or one country wedding sample tells your brain, "oh — these are real."

What to do

  1. Open song-4u.net
  2. Scroll to "Listen to a sample" (just below the hero) — play one or two
  3. Scroll further to "For Life's Biggest Moments" — each card has its own "Hear a sample" button
  4. If you have a specific occasion (wedding, memorial, birthday), play THAT card's sample so you know what's possible for your moment
Why this matters: Many first-timers assume the songs will sound generic or AI-flat. Listening to two or three samples removes that fear before you even start the order.
2

Tell us their story.

Scroll to the order form (or click "Order a Song" at the top of any page). You'll see fields for occasion, recipient's name, music style, and — most importantly — their story.

The story field is where the magic actually happens. The more detail you give us, the more personal the song becomes.

What to fill in

  1. Occasion — Birthday, Wedding, Memorial, Father's Day, Just Because, etc.
  2. Recipient's name — Who is the song for?
  3. Choose a style — Pop, Country, Folk/Acoustic, Gospel, R&B, Rap, Jazz, or "Surprise Me!"
  4. Tell their story — This is the big one. Write a few sentences about the person. Their personality, a funny memory, an inside joke, where they're from, what they love, what makes them unforgettable. Don't write lyrics — just tell their story in your own words. We write the lyrics.
  5. Language & Heritage (optional) — Want it sung in Italian, Spanish, Persian, Swahili, etc.? Pick from the dropdown. The song will be sung in that language with authentic cultural music.
  6. PlanLite $28 Standard $37 Premium $49 — see Step 7 for what each tier gives you. You don't pay anything yet.

What does a great story look like?

"Mom and Dad met at a county fair in 1985 in Iowa. Dad still calls her 'kid' and she still rolls her eyes at his bad jokes. They raised four kids on Dad's mechanic shop, and now they have eight grandkids who visit every Sunday for Mom's blueberry pancakes. They always slow-danced in the kitchen after the kids went to bed, to whatever old country station was playing on the radio."

Why this works: specific names, real places, small details, an inside joke, a memory — the kind of things only YOU would know about THIS family.

One thing to avoid: don't name famous artists or songs in your story (like "their first dance was Artist X — Song Y"). Our music engine can't sing copyrighted titles. Describe the feeling instead — "they slow-danced to old country" works perfectly.

The story field is the difference between OK and unforgettable. Write as if you're texting a friend about this person. Specific details — the diner they met at, the song they always sing badly, the dog they named after a baseball player — make the lyrics feel real.

Hit "Request My Free Preview" at the bottom. No payment is required at this step.

3

Wait about three minutes.

After you submit, you'll see a confirmation screen with a bouncing music note 🎶 and a checklist of steps. You can close the tab if you want — your preview will arrive by email regardless.

Here's what's happening behind the scenes:

Behind the curtain

  1. Your story is read by an AI that's trained to write singable, emotional lyrics — using the names, details, and memories you shared
  2. The lyrics are sent to a music engine that produces a fully arranged song in the style you picked
  3. A 30-second preview is clipped from the song
  4. AI cover art is generated based on your occasion
  5. The preview, lyrics, and cover art are emailed to you
Average time: 3 minutes. Sometimes faster, occasionally slower. If it's been more than 10 minutes and you don't have an email, check spam, then email hello@song-4u.net.
4

Hear your free 30-second preview.

The preview email subject is something like "🎵 Your Song Preview is Ready — [Recipient]'s Song!"

Open it. You'll see a big gold button labeled "▶ Listen With Lyrics". Click that. It opens your dedicated song page (called /play) where you can:

On the /play page

  • 🎵 Play the 30-second preview clip
  • 📖 Read the lyrics scroll alongside the audio
  • 🖼️ See your custom cover art
  • ❤️ Click "I Love It" to unlock the full song (Step 7)
  • 🔄 Click "Try a Different Version" to use a free retry (Step 5)
  • ✏️ Click "Edit These Lyrics" to fix spelling or rewrite a line (Step 6)
You haven't paid anything yet. The preview is free. The lyrics page is free. Retrying is free. You only pay when you click "I Love It" on a version you want to keep.
5

Try a different version — free.

If the first preview isn't quite right, you don't need to start over and don't need to pay. Click "🎵 Try a Different Version" on the /play page. It opens a panel where you can:

Your free retry options

  • Change the genre or style — Country instead of Pop, Acoustic instead of Rock
  • Change the mood — Warm and tender instead of upbeat
  • Pick an "Inspired By" artist — "Bruno Mars sound" or "Sinatra crooner feel"
  • Adjust the voice — Female vocalist instead of male
  • Add sound notes — "slower tempo, acoustic guitar, big finish"
  • Even rewrite the lyrics from scratch if you want a different angle

Click "Generate New Version" and wait another 2-3 minutes. A new preview appears alongside the first one. Both are saved. If you like version 1 better after all, it's still there.

How many retries? Lite gets 2 free retries. Standard and Premium get 3 free retries each. Then you have to either pick a version you love, or contact us for more.
Important: Many first-timers don't realize this is available and place a SECOND order thinking they need to. You don't. One order = multiple free preview tries.
6

Edit the lyrics — free, if it's text-only.

Sometimes the music is perfect but a single word is wrong — a misspelled name, a wrong date, "5 sons" instead of "5 daughters." Click "✏️ Edit These Lyrics" on the /play page. You'll see the full lyrics in an editable text box.

Make your changes. Then you have TWO choices:

Choice A — Just fix the lyrics text (FREE, instant)

Check the box that says "Just update lyrics text — keep this version's audio." The displayed lyrics update immediately, but the audio stays the same. Use this when the song was sung correctly but the WRITTEN lyrics have a typo. Costs you nothing and doesn't use a retry credit.

Choice B — Generate a brand new version with the edited lyrics

Leave the checkbox unchecked. The system creates a new preview that SINGS the edited lyrics. Use this when the name is sung wrong, or you've changed something meaningful that needs to be heard. Uses one of your free retry credits.

Rule of thumb: If the song sounds RIGHT but the lyrics on the page have a typo → Choice A (free). If you need the audio itself to change → Choice B (uses a retry, but still free — you only pay when you click "I Love It").
7

Love it? Unlock the full song.

When one of your preview versions feels right, click ❤️ I Love It on that version's player. This is the moment you pay.

You're sent to Stripe (the secure checkout most people recognize). Pick your plan if you haven't yet:

The three tiers

  • Lite $28 · Sung in English · 1 version · 2 free preview retries · 3 revisions after purchase
  • Standard $37 · Sung in any of 26+ languages · 1 version · 3 free preview retries · 5 revisions after purchase
  • Premium $49 · Sung in any language · 2 different versions of your song (same lyrics, different musical arrangements) · 3 free preview retries · 10 revisions after purchase

You can also apply a promo code at checkout if someone gave you one (a friend, a partner, a promo we sent you).

After payment, you receive a second email — the full song email. This includes:

What's in the full-song email

  • The full song MP3 (downloadable, yours forever)
  • Full lyrics
  • A shareable link to your /play page (you can send this to the recipient)
  • Cover art
8

Keep refining — even after you've paid.

Most services consider you "done" after you pay. We don't. After purchase, you get 3 to 10 more revisions depending on tier — to keep polishing until it's perfect for the moment.

Open your /play page (link is in your full-song email). The same two buttons are still there:

What you can still do after buying

  • ✏️ Edit Lyrics — Same flow as Step 6. Text-only edits still cost nothing. Audio-affecting edits use a revision credit.
  • 🎵 Try a Different Version — Want to hear the same song as a country ballad instead of pop? Use a revision credit and generate it. The old version stays in your library.
  • 📥 Re-download — Each new version gives you a fresh MP3 download.
Why we built it this way: Songs for big moments shouldn't be "good enough." We'd rather you take a week and polish it 3-4 times than rush a flawed version because you already paid.

The questions everyone asks

Honest answers to the things people wonder about but don't always ask.

Is this AI-generated? Will it sound fake?
The technology IS AI — but the lyrics come from the story YOU tell us about a specific person, and the music engine produces real-sounding songs with real-sounding vocals. Every customer who's listened to a finished song has had the same reaction: it doesn't feel fake. It feels like someone really listened.
What if I never love any version?
Then you don't pay. That's the whole point of the free preview model. If after multiple free retries the song still isn't right, just walk away — no charge has been made. We'd rather lose an order than make you pay for something you don't love.
Can I really revise the lyrics myself?
Yes. The "Edit These Lyrics" button opens the full lyrics in an editor. You can fix spelling, rewrite lines, or change names. If you check "just update lyrics text" the change is free and instant. If you want the song to actually SING the new lyrics, that uses a free retry credit (or a revision credit after purchase).
How does the AI know what to write about someone it's never met?
It uses what YOU tell it. The "Tell their story" field is where you describe the person — their personality, memories, where they're from, what they love, what makes them special. The more specific you are, the more personal the song feels. Vague stories produce vague songs.
What about songs in other languages?
Standard and Premium tiers can be sung in any of 26+ languages — Italian, Spanish, Mandarin, Persian, Korean, Hebrew, Swahili, Arabic, and many more. We use authentic cultural musical styles too. Pick the language from the Heritage dropdown. Lite tier is English only.
Can I play the song at a wedding, funeral, or event?
Yes. It's YOUR song — you commissioned it. Play it anywhere, share it, post it on a memorial page or wedding album. No licensing barriers, no royalties to pay anyone.
What does the cover art look like?
The system generates AI cover art based on your occasion (wedding, memorial, birthday, etc.) — usually warm, abstract imagery that fits the mood. You get a copy with your full song download.
Can I order in advance for a future event?
Yes. We have a Gift Delivery option — you can have the full song emailed to the recipient on a specific date (their birthday morning, your anniversary, Father's Day), or schedule a reminder for yourself to send it.
What if my version of the song expires or my checkout link breaks?
It won't anymore. Every "I Love It" click generates a brand-new fresh checkout link — never expired, never timed out, even days after the preview email arrives. If anything ever does break, email hello@song-4u.net and we'll fix it.
I'm a wedding planner / funeral director — can we partner?
Yes. We have a partner program with 25% commission on every paid order from a family you've referred. Pilot codes available for free trials with your first two client families. See song-4u.net/partners or email Greg directly.

You've got the map. Now go make their moment.

The hardest part of giving someone a song they'll remember forever is realizing it's possible. You're past that part now.
